In Memory of Charles M. Houseknecht

November 11, 1926 – September 7, 2021

SCHENECTADY- Charles M. Houseknecht, 94, Cindy Crest Drive, died Tuesday, September 7, 2021, in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his loving and caring family. Born in Oneida, on November 11, 1926, he was the son of William B. and Jennie Parmeter Houseknecht. A longtime resident of this area, until moving to be with his son and daughter-in-law and their family, Chuck was a graduate of Oneida High School and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the United States Army. He married Betty J. Moyer in Oneida on June 20, 1953. Mrs. Houseknecht died on November 24, 2001.Prior to his retirement, Chuck was the regional supervisor of the meat department for the former P&C Stores. An avid bowler and golfer, he was active in many different leagues.Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, William and Dawn Houseknecht of Schenectady; his grandchildren, Nicolas (Arianne) Houseknecht, Nicole Houseknecht, Ryan Houseknecht and Michael (Abigail) Houseknecht; his sister, Annamae Houseknecht of Schenectady; his brother, Maynard Houseknecht of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services, with full military honors, will be held 12 noon, Tuesday, at the family plot in Oneida Castle Cemetery, with the Reverend Donna Chapman, officiating. There are no hours of visitation.
