Celebrating Joe Johnson & Supporting Tyler’s Wish

Sunday October 7, 2018

Tyler DeMarco Foundation is honored to have been selected as the beneficiary of this year’s 8th Annual Joe Johnson Memorial Bass Tournament.  The tournament is held in memory of Mr. Joe Johnson who passed on from this world in June 2011. Joe is well known for his many years of stock car racing at the Fonda Speedway and for his auto repair service (Johnson’s Garage) that he owned and operated for many years on Curry Road at Guilderland Avenue in the Town of Rotterdam. Joe is also known as a passionate outdoors man who loved to fish and hunt. Joe however, is best known for his kind, laid-back personality and his ability to make friends and smiles everywhere he went. Anyone who ever met Joe, loved Joe…  THAT LEGACY CONTINUES!

Long-Time friend, Al Denny started the Joe Johnson Memorial Bass Tournament with the support of Joe’s family and many local sponsors so Joe’s passion for fishing and his notorious kindness and generous nature would live on in the community Joe appreciated and passionately loved.

Today, the Tyler DeMarco Foundation had the privilege to be part of that legacy when we were invited to join Al Denny, the Johnson family and a contingent of local fishermen and their families for the 8th Annual Joe Johnson Memorial Bass Tournament on the mighty Mohawk. The day was cool, cloudy and sometimes rainy but that didn’t deter a single soul.  The event kicked off at around 6:30 am and ended in the early evening at around 7 pm after fish were weighed, handsome cash and gift prizes were awarded and raffle and auction items were won.

This wonderful event generously raised $2,232.00 and donated that amount to the Tyler DeMarco Foundation so we can continue our Fight against Childhood Cancer!

Tyler DeMarco Foundation wants to thank Al Denny, the Johnson Family, the event sponsors and all the participants and their families who welcomed us, listened to us and made this event such a wonderful and meaningful success.

Lastly, we want to thank the late Mr. Joe Johnson who has touched the hearts of so many and who has left an amazingly beautiful legacy of family, friends, friendship, caring, and generosity that continues to evoke positive change and continues to make our world a better place even in his absence – reminding us that those we lose are truly never lost.

 Thank you, All!
